Review of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) by Kendel C — 05 Feb 2017
This movie was simply STUNNING. Of course the animation was standout: it did not look like claymation, it looked... surreal. Otherworldly! But what this movie REALLY nailed was character. The mom was layered and sympathetic, Beetle was hilarious.
And the dark characters really sent chills up your spine. The adventure was well-paced, and the dialog inspired. I rarely give a 5-star, but this one deserved it. So sad it did not make more $ at the box office, because it was exceptional!
