Review of Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) by Leopoldthebrave — 05 Apr 2017
Kung fu Panda 2 manages to improve and excite even more so than its predecessor. The animation is even better and more action-packed, and the landscapes shine even more as our heroes venture out beyond the Valley of Peace.
The new villain, Shen is intimidating while also being a riot. His story and motives are also believable, making him superior to the previous movie's villain, Tai Lung. Po also has some character development himself as he tries to decide whether finding out his past or completing his mission is more important. In the end, the big fat panda we know and love makes the right decision and ends with the perfect setup for the third movie.
All the action is still here, the jokes hit hard, the performances from Jack Black, Jackie Chan, and the rest of the cast are as great as they've ever been, and it manages to keep an insanely large amount of quality despite being a sequel. It's rare to see sequels surpass the original, and Kung Fu Panda 2 does so with flying colors. So much that I wish there was a way I could rate it an 11/10.
