Review of Lady and the Tramp (1955) by Jonathan B — 28 Dec 2012
It's difficult to find much that is positive to say about this very badly dated movie other than it would probably keep tiny tots entertained briefly. Certainly as an adult viewer there's little to recommend it and it certainly doesn't stand out as one of the best Disney animations.
It is typically cloying and saccharine with only the thinnest of plots. Whilst it is true to say that some of the observations of canine behaviour are well observed, the animation feels rather flat and lacking vibrancy or atmosphere.
There's a smattering of good songs, partly penned by Peggy Lee but they struggle to lift this movie beyond the mediocre.
