Review of Lady Bird (2017) by Larry C — 04 Mar 2018
Sort of a rich (wo)man's version of "Napoleon Dynamite" meets "Juno" meets "Rushmore", a movie like this is almost impossible to dislike which explains the 99% from critics on RT.
It shouldn't be rated this high above your Godfathers and Casablancas of the world but it's a really fun movie, the best part being the relationship between Lady Bird and her mom which definitely helps the movie pass the Bechdel Test and it brings back a lot of nostalgia to those of us who were graduating and going off to college in the early 2000s.
I fully expect this to be looked at a decade from now in a "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" kind of way in that we will look at the collection of young actors (most notably Saoirse Ronan, Lucas Hedges & Timothée Chalamet) and marvel that they were all in the same movie together here.
