Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by David C — 17 Oct 2011
To enjoy this movie it is required to look beyond the crass nature of what would be expected by the premise. When looked at for the condition that Lar's suffers from and the awakening that both he and the town receive from Bianca, the film can be seen for what it truly is.
The subtleties of Ryan Gosling's Lars is beyond astounding, when coupled with the emotionally stunted nature of the people surrounding him. I could go on forever about how much I truly love this film, but I think it's most important to say that this film moved me in way that filled me with more happiness and sadness simultaneously than I've ever felt while watching a movie.
For me, it truly is perfect.
