Review of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by Jeff B — 20 Nov 2011
"Truly, for some men nothing is written unless THEY write it.".
This movie is epic in every sense and it is available in DVD with excellent restoration work including a DTS soundtrack which is better-engineered than many recent releases. The first thing that hits you with this movie is the breathtaking scenery, and the second is the wonderful score. This all surrounds a wonderful enigmatic story about a very enigmatic character. David Lean is a very disciplined director who avoids every temptation to force-feed the audience and let them make up their own minds about what is going on. As such, it is a very honest exposition of one part of a very complicated story that continues to this day. You have probably seen this, but if you haven't, then go get the DVD and try to watch it on a good Home Theatre. You will not be disappointed.
