Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Aidan H — 13 Jul 2012
Despite it hallowed reputation, J-P Melville's hit-man tale hasn't weathered well since it blew audiences away in the 60s and fails to elicit an emotional grip (due mostly to its star's pretty boy looks and less-than riveting character).
Instead. watch Walter Hill's The Driver or Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive if stone-cold, methodical protagonists are your thing. Drab.
