Review of Leave No Trace (2018) by Jessica S — 17 Jul 2018
Here's an example of a really well done film that everyone can appreciate, but doesn't push your buttons too much. The previews made it look like it carried more of an emotional punch than it actually does.
Bravo to the new comer Thomasin McKenzie--who is being compared to Jennifer Lawrence who started her career with Winter's Bone, done by this same director, Debra Granick. I think that's a stretch, although she certainly carries the film.
I can't really give more than a solid 3 stars for this, which means I liked it, but I'm not suggesting you run out and see it. Maybe the subject matter of living in the woods didn't appeal to me much.
Why would one want to? It felt a bit like The Revenant for a minute (iwithout the bear).
