Review of Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009) by Philip S — 27 Mar 2012
This one is pretty silly, but I have seen WAY worse films. It's sort of in the same vein as Evil Dead II or Shaun of the Dead in that it doesn't take itself too seriously and includes lots of over-the-top moments, smart-ass dialogue and, well, cleavage.
James Corden steals the show as the hormone-driven sidekick. I'm surprised that we have not seen more of him (he seems to do lots of voice-over work). The British setting, accents and slang certainly help.
I'm not sure if it would play differently to a Brit audience. The movie is short, which also helps, though it means the resolution comes a bit quickly and easily. But, really, are you watching this to see how they tackle the vampire queen or do you wanna just enjoy the ride and hear the juvenile wisecracks? If you enjoyed Evil Dead The Musical (especially the tune "What the f**k was that?!"), you might get a kick out of this.
If you're expecting The Blair Witch Project, you're in for massive disappointment.
