Review of Licorice Pizza (2021) by Tommonday — 29 May 2022
If you like this movie, you have lost your mind. There’s no plot. There are no scenes. Just people talking. And then stuff happens. But doesn’t change anything. Characters learn nothing. The actual dynamic (older woman grooming a minor) is completely ignored.
The Japanese scenes were mindblowing. Imagine PTA setting these scenes in an Ethiopian restaurant and pulling the same thing. He would lose his career. But I guess mocking Asian language is okay? Pitiful.
It’s hard to believe that it’s a movie that was actually made. The whole thing almost makes me lose complete respect for PTA. It makes his earlier movies seem bad.
