Review of Life (2017) by Steven M — 06 Apr 2017
How does Kong have a better rating on here than Life? While it doesn't rewrite anything, this movie is definitely in the better half of Sci-Fi horror films for sure. Good acting, interesting if not out there a little story, and good special effects make for a worthwhile adventure.
The "monster" though is a little, ambiguous, for lack of a better word. It's not really definable or memorable like the xenomorph from the Alien franchise, nor does it make sense how these supposed intelligent astronauts act in certain situations.
There are so many moments in this movie that reminded me of the original Alien film that I was struck by the obviousness of it, since, if you compare this movie to Alien, there is no comparison. Won't give anything away, but hated the ending.
All in all, if you like Sci-Fi horror, it's worth seeing, just don't go expecting anything more than a ho-hum Sci-Fi movie.
