Review of Logan Lucky (2017) by Jake C — 12 Jan 2019
Driven by a host of easygoing quirks, charmingly off-kilter performances, and an empathetic sensibility, the heist propels itself forward with beguiling mirth, steadied by Soderbergh's well-established genius for intertwining---or, considering the setting here, intertwanging---narrative threads.
Nonetheless, the whole thing feels like a superficial retread of grander heists, with the stakes being simultaneously too high and without any final gravity.
