Perhaps if the viewer knows who Eric Cantona is they would appreciate it more, but as an American I have no knowledge of soccer and therefore had never heard of him. Even if I loved soccer I doubt I would like this messy mashup of fantasy, love story, drama, and farce.
I haven't looked at my watch so often in a movie in a long time.
