Review of Love and Honor (2006) by Lucas T — 18 May 2008

I really REALLY wanted to like this movie... But it was just SO SLOW! I will admit, the form of the film is incredibly true to the actual rituals and looks of the era, and the sense of honor is deep and piercing.

Unfortunately, it's very predictable with one short duel. Humor feels somewhat forced and the main character gives a few good giggle moments for what seems to desire a ROFL reaction in contrast. All together, I personally wanted to see more like Zatoichi action rather than all talk.

I'd say, watch it for a history lesson, or if you're really into the politics of the time period.
