Review of Love Comes Softly (2003) by Missy K — 24 Jan 2007

I ached to give this a better rating because I felt the character, Marty, played by Katherine Heigl, did a great job at showing the emotional pull she felt when she lost her husband and had to endure the suddent changes her life took.

But after that I didn't feel the characters were strong enough to make this movie what it could have been. Missy, played by Skye McCole Bartusiak, overworked the parts where she cried so much that I had to cover my eyes to get her pinched up face out of my head.

For a truly moving epic story about the hardships pioneers faced, I recommend "Legends of a Fall" with Brad Pitt. Let this movie go as softly as it should... right onto the cutting room's floor.
