Review of M3GAN (2022) by Eve11 — 03 Mar 2023
Megan.
1/10.
A deeply absurd movie that relies on implausible logic, unlikable characters that follows trauma child, Katie, that befriends an uncanny valley robot, Megan, who, in universe, shouldn't exist due to the time it took (one night) for Jemma to build.
As the lead suggests, this movie is absurd and begs the audience to believe a super sophisticated, ground breaking, revolutionary robot can be built in one night with spare parts. The movie goes then through a series of only passingly interesting events that show the development of the murder bot until the climax eventually happens. The climax is the ONLY enjoyable part of the movie which gives the movie its 1/10 for Katie using the Bruce bot to resolve the conflict which is the only example of good writing in the entire film.
This is billed as a Horror movie. A horror movie. Yet the cringe bot sings THREE times in a, again, and I cannot stress this enough, HORROR movie. It also Dances once in the second most cringe scene next to the dog running scene.
I would highly HIGHLY suggest no one waste an hour and 41 minutes to watch this deeply confused, migrane of a film.
