Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Morten S — 04 Jun 2014
Ok first things first. I kind of enjoyed the first Machete, for it's gory violence, over the top action and cheesy one-liners, but this one goes way too overboard with all those elements. It tries to hard to be a grindhousefilm without acturlly being grindhouse.
The action and the kills where boring and unmemorable and most of them felt like a re-hash of the first film. I know this film is supposed to be tounge and cheek and work as an homerge to exploitation cinema, but the problem is that Rodriguez camps it up so much, that it becomes more annoying than fun.
Dispite all that, Danny Trejo is pretty good in his role as Machete and Michelle Rodriguez was nice to look at as all ways, but other wise not very good.
