Review of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012) by David B — 14 Jul 2013
Here is a family movie from which absolutely nothing is expected, and yet it's one of the week's best releases: a muscular, potent and very funny film. I was really suprised by this film, this so much better than the first two films and really it's THIS film that should've been the first.
"The best of the Madagascar films" might not be the most ringing endorsement ever committed to newsprint, but DreamWorks Animation has finally found the franchise's groove in this pyrotechnic third installment.
Again, the voice talent are great and actually sound better this time round. A better plot, better gags, although they keep using pop culture music which is getting boring in animation, it's still a great sound track.
The film has heart but has a great script and very funny. Dreamworks finally got a gem sequel since Shrek 2. Well done Dreamworks, took you long enough to make a good Madagascar film. I wouldn't say these films are better than the first two Shrek film and How To Train Your Dragon but it's still the witty film, Dreamworks were looking for in a sequel.
Surprising excellent.
