Review of Marnie (1964) by James R — 26 Feb 2008
The acting is very underrated and complex. A complex psychological thriller/sex mystery. A movie that poses questions and still remains fresh even 43 years after it being made. Tippi Hedren's silently gives underrated and little-seen performances in all her films.
She's incredible and nobody can deny she's beautiful. To this day it is my favorite Hitchcock film, and on my short-list of favorite movies in general. Beautiful score by Bernard Herrmann too -- it got into the character of Marnie's head.
That repeated theme is unforgettable. For extra fun -- try to track down the Nat King Cole song Marnie that was a flop-tie-in to the movie. Easily a 5-star movie for me.
