Review of Mary Poppins Returns (2018) by Ryan A — 22 Jan 2019

I expected to get the Disney feeling when going to see this movie and have half the songs stuck in my head but ended up with neither. The movie does have good story telling, Emily Blunt did very well as Mary Poppins, seeing Dick Van Dyke to me was the highlight of the film and the movie does share some nice disney magic moments.

But it's mostly just flashy and all show but no go in the Disney magic. I wasn't a fan of the songs I actually think they will be very forgettable, Lin-Manuel Miranda's rap singing wasn't completely out of place as I thought It would be but still I think it was unnecessary to put in the film overall it's not great and doesn't feel like a true sequal to the 1st Mary Poppins movie but it's a fun Disney musical.
