Review of Mary Poppins Returns (2018) by Scott W — 20 Jan 2019
This movie needed to be one of two things. Either a remake of the original or a totally new take on the characters. Instead it's somewhere in between. And I found myself wishing they had just used the same songs instead of these new ones which were not as good.
It's especially frustrating because each song in this one matches up to one in the original (for example: instead of flying a kite flying balloons! Instead of laughing on the ceiling, a room turns upside down!) It's fairly entertaining and harmless, and will make a ton of money.
But ultimately underwhelming.
