Review of Me Before You (2016) by Narrative M — 29 Aug 2018
Read this if: You strive to find light and beauty in the world, even in the darkest places.
It doesn't matter if you've seen the movie; we didn't appreciate the full story of Me Before You until we read the book. It may be that the topics of disability and depression are too nuanced for the silver screen. But the book was life-changing. Jojo Moyes' story evoked tears not for sentimental reasons, but because there is truth in her straightforward language; the pain it depicts is real. The story challenged us. It got under our skin. It made us part of a larger conversation that, however difficult, must be had.
