Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Scott R — 25 Jan 2018
After student films and learning a bit while working for Roger Corman...Scorsese finally decided to venture out in his own and make a movie HE wanted to make. The result of this decision turns out to be Scorsese's breakout film.
It features the first time he would team-up with Robert DeNiro, a collaboration that would continue for many films for the the next few decades. The cast is quite good, and Scorsese does a great job here.
It is also Scorsese's first film that explores the world of the Mafia, a world he would further explore in "Goodfellas" and "Casino". The Scorsese we all know and love had finally arrived in this film, and it is definitely worth a look for all.
