Review of Mechanic: Resurrection (2016) by Etienne P — 12 Aug 2017
Jason Statham plays James Bald in the Bourne/Bond knockoff. No one even tries in this tired paint-by-numbers action film. As the Damsel Jessica Alba gives a Text-to-Speech delivery and you half expect her to plead the headaches in the Sex Scene. Meanwhile Jason is phoning it in but whats new.
Featuring glamorous locations like Rio,Sydney, Thailand and... Bulgaria. A few greenscreen and CGI scenes then we are back to the meat and potatoes of any Statham movie - thumping and shooting.
Tommy Lee Jones appears courtesy of his Bank Manager and shamelessly displays that less is more can work.
One could interpret the destructiion of the eff-off glass swimming pool as a protest against the 1% but that would require imagination. This movie has none.
