If the future is Jason Statham Chinese funded blockbuster CGI monster movies, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore. As interesting as it is to add more of the same thing that the previous film had and rip off Jurassic Park, it isn't getting any easier to sit down for 2 hours of my life that I can never get back to watch whatever flavor of the month action film comes out starring nearly washed up actors. What is this? The Fast and the Furious franchise?

Disregarding that more giant sharks isn't actually that scary, I'd like to also make special mention of the absolute baloney word salad Ocean science going on here that make an already difficult suspension of disbelief drop my jaw even more further than was previously possible. A secret layer somewhere in the Ocean where giant sharks live, eh? What do they eat? Why would you put a station down there? Do they know where we actually get materials for the technology we use everyday? Because its most assuredly NOT in the Ocean. The actual cost of keeping such a station active, the submersibles, and the fact that its in the deepest part of the Ocean because this is King Kong or something would be so astronomically high that it couldn't possibly be worth what they were mining for down there. Its ridiculous.

I also really enjoyed the character that mostly spoke chinese, who never got killed off even though it really seemed like it was written for that to happen multiple times. The love interest/ wife or whatever she was who just never came back had a daughter with Jason Statham's character who doesn't even act like its his daughter. The tone of the script is just clueless. Kind of like watching 20,000 leagues under the sea from 1954, except more Chinese and a larger budget. Also the black dude spoke like a black dude and had a really big gun.
