Review of Men in Black II (2002) by John P — 30 Nov 2013
Talk about a major let down from the first one. This movie is a prime example of taking the exact same frame work and copy & paste right on top of some of the old things. As a film viewer, it is very frustrating and you're being robbed when you watch this movie. I won't go into a lot of detail since it has been a long time that I saw this so I'll just tell you just basic pros and cons.
One of the principle problems about this movie is having Agent Jay being the guy showing Agent Kay that there are aliens out there like some kind of role reversal thing for the first part of this movie. You also have these alien criminals who apparently have some kind of personal vendetta against Jay & Kay, but are not exactly clear on the story because all of their backstories are either extremely vague or not explained at all. Speaking of aliens, they over used the crap out of the worms and Frank the dog to try and make them a part of the movie. The special effects felt really lazy this time around on the aliens that they looked really fake. One of the only redeeming parts of this movie was having Patrick Warburton as an agent, which I thought could have gone on a lot longer for him than the total span of five minutes. Overall it is not as good as the first one. The villains are weak, the love story is completely one-sided, and there are too many product placements that pretty much bash you over the head. It's okay for a Friday night rental for a dollar, but not really worth anyones time.
