Review of Messiah of Evil (1973) by David M — 14 Dec 2008
Rarely (if ever) listed amongst zombie films, 1972's Messiah of Evil really has a lot in common with the genre. Blending some post-Carnival of Souls weirdness with some proto-Dawn of the Dead cinematography, the film is successful on a number of levels.
Certain aspects haven't aged well, but overall, the film has a sense of dread rarely captured in the genre.
