Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Sarah B — 09 Feb 2009
I seriously cannot fault this film. The script, acting, characters and production are all flawless. Everyone is on top form, Adams is absolutely adorable without being annoying, just like she was in Enchanted, McDormand is always brilliant, Mark Strong is as charismatic as ever and Henderson is good value.
But the stand-out here is Lee Pace; impassioned, full of presence, heartmelting, warming and breaking at the same time, vulnerable and perfection itself. A wonderful film that improves on the book wondrously.
A small miracle of cinema.
