Review of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) by Deanthedean — 20 Jul 2023
Solid action movie. Takes a bit too long to get going with lots and lots of exposition in the beginning. Some of the stunts that were done practical get demoted by cgi fx (they built a real train and crashed it off of a cliff but the landing looks cgi heavy).
Also there are a few plotholes concerning the ai-entity. It is presented as this omnipotent hacker, that can hack everything and even emulate voices. The solution to that is "analog radio because it is not digital and this not hackable", but I mean.. radio stations also send digital output via analog radio? Later there is a scene where Simon Peggs character uses the autopilot of his car.. which somehow is immune to getting hacked all of a sudden? Besides that it was an entertaining 150 minutes which could (should?) Have been 90-110 minutes at most. Still looking forward to part 2.
