It's amazing how this franchise is like wine, almost always improving with each film. The only exception is the second film, which is no better than the first. But from the third it's just uphill.

Despite having spent a large part of his career as a screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie shows that he definitely has plenty of talent in directing his films, in addition to having very original ideas to make a franchise reach its eighth film still having breath and still being interesting.
