Review of Moana (2016) by Lilia A — 29 Mar 2017

This movie was a nice watch, but not something I would ever rewatch.

Moana is a strong female character,. Maui is hilarious and has wonderful character growth. While the main characters were a female and male, there was no romance in this movie, which is refreshing for a Disney Princess movie (There wasn't a male lead in Brave). The human characters are well developed and I enjoyed them all. The nature in this movie is absolutely beautiful. And I liked the music, mostly.

My favorite part of this movie is the comedy. I've never laughed so much during a Disney princess movie. All these factors, plus the heart-warming scenes that come with every Disney Princess movie make this an enjoyable one-time watch.

But there are so many parts of this movie that made me roll my eyes. While I loved the human characters, the chicken is completely unnecessary and quite annoying. In addition, while I liked the music, there were too many songs in the beginning, and some songs should just be cut out of the movie. Lastly, while suspension of belief is something you do in kids movies, this one stretched it at times.

Overall, great watch. But wouldn't recommend and wouldn't watch again,.
