Review of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) by Elviscostero — 18 Dec 2019
The Monty Python group has reached legendary status today so its hard to believe that during the making of this film (and when it came out) the group wasn't revered or worshipped as they are today. This was just another movie.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail features the same kind of brilliant comic writing that characterized the best episodes of the television series. Everything, from Marxist rhetoric to scientific observations to religious doctrine, takes a beating.
Most comedies saturate the audience with gags and jokes in the hope that one-third to one-half of the material might be funny. But, in The Holy Grail, there's hardly an attempt at humor that fails. That's a rare claim for any movie to make, but, even when a viewer isn't laughing aloud at this film, he or she will almost certainly appreciate the incisive intelligence evident in the Pythons' approach.
This is a great place to start with Monty Python.(Big screen appearance of a legendary group).
