Review of Moonstruck (1987) by Rod A — 16 Jun 2011
Such smart writing! The web of conflicting relationships, so simply portrayed, proves so alluring. The entire cast is marvelous. I must confess I never gave Cher much thought but after recently watching her in this film and Silkwood, I am impressed by her vulnerability and toughness.
She gets the audience to root for her because of her crippled sincerity. My one objection to the film is its last two minutes. Too predictable. Aside from that, I think it's as moving a film as I've seen in a while.
