Review of Mother (2016) by Jeremy P — 02 Oct 2017
This movie was art in one of its highest forms. Of course mainstream audiences are going to hate it, they figured it would be a straight up horror movie like how it was marketed. The sadness is that mainstream audiences hate being duped into watching a movie that makes them think.
And for god's sake, the movie is directed by Aronofsky! What did you expect from a movie thats been made by the same man who did Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan? Every average movie goer that I have talked to has hated this movie, yet every film buff has loved it.
It was expertly-crafted, well-acted, and full of imagery that you will find hard to shake off long after viewing the movie. If you want real, beautiful filmmaking that will haunt you instead of desensitize you, give this movie a watch.
You won't regret it.
