Review of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) by Mayank A — 26 Dec 2018
This was such a bore. It's only been two years since Disney's Jungle book so I never understood the reasoning behind another remake of the age-old tale. While Jungle Book was an excellent telling, mainstream, fun, entertaining and with great visuals, Netflix's Mowgli on the other hand seemed like a movie not sure on what it wants, too menacing for kids, too simple for adults.
It got loads of great visuals but unrealistic at times, in wanting to be darker and sinister it lost the feel-good factor I associated with the tale. The movie does have some really excellent star cast for the voice overs but it all seemed wasted on the soulless script.
