Review of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) by John H — 27 Dec 2018
I prefer this film instead of Disney's "live action" remake. Disney wins with their animation and visuals slightly but Mowgli follows more closely to the book, the soundtrack is amazing, the performances (non-motion capture and motion capture) of the actors feel real and the movie is not afraid to show that it is not a Disney movie with the dark, gritty tone and some surprising twists in the story.
The animation in most parts are quite breathtaking and blends slightly better with the real-life elements. Best of all, there is no singing and the ending is not a happy ending but rather a hopeful one with some uncertainty.
