Review of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) by Scott C — 06 Jan 2019
While this movie has its flaws and the representation of the animals can feel uncomfortable if you are not open to it, this film manages to carry a fireside story quality that I did not find in the Jungle Book.
The disney film felt just that, disney and little else, which while not a bad thing puts it into a pretty narrow idealism that doesn't carry many kinds of messages at all well. This film feels like a telling of something that has weight and history behind it as partof a greater mythology and way of viewing humanity in the world.
