Ian McKellen shines in this small but humble and focused take on the world's most famous detective, delivering a more than solid performance inside a heavily dramatic but touching spiritual sequel of Sir.
Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved literature classics, and although Bill Condon's direction is always in the right point, the script lacks the intensity of Holmes's tales, which is immediately compensated with a strongly faithful vision with characters and emotion.
