Review of Mulligans (2008) by David P — 02 Aug 2012
I got to give props to Charlie David for attempting to bring something interesting to the gay film genre (hard to take him seriously after Dante's Cove). The cinematography and sound was clear and had a professional quality that enhanced the look of the movie that many gay theme movies lack... but like one reviewer said.. it was sanitized.. almost preachy in how one would hope this kind of betrayal would occur in real life.. this movie doesn't honestly reflect the reality of a woman scorned and her family threatened. It needed far more raw and authentic passion.. I agree that Dan Payne was the highlight.. everyone else felt like they were sleepwalking.
Although I am not a huge fan of irrelavant deleted scenes.. in this case some things actually made more sense once I saw them.
Nice attempt Mr David.. please work with real writers and directors next time and you'll have more success.
