Review of MXP: Most Xtreme Primate (2004) by David T — 30 Mar 2008
A chimp who snowboards; there, I've summed up the entire movie. I don't know about anybody else but I've been waiting for a movie like this all my life, but then waited four more years to watch it...
Anyways, this movie is everything it promises to be, but more. There is no CGI or robot monkeys, somebody actually devoted time from their life to train a chimp how to snowboard. While this is awesome in itself, the movie uses the classic "sports movie plot". So there is a victory over impossible odds, a monkey montage and even the development of a strong bond between monkey and boy (which happens to be quite heart-warming and creepy at the same time).
Most of all I find it funny that the chimp in this movie had more acting talent than anybody else in the movie. Particularily the main kid in the story has the acting talent of a young Val Kilmer, cold and expressionless.
If I can watch this movie twice, then you can watch it once.
