Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Zach R — 07 Oct 2017
I remember the 80s version of My Little Pony and its weird movie. This updated version is just as colorful and sparkling as before. Based on the TV series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, the movie is basically an extended episode with a lot more songs. The voice cast includes some good actors which surprised me given this is a movie called My Little Pony. When a dark force threatens the colorful world of Equestria, Princess Twilight Sparkle and her crew of pony friends set out to save the day. If you have little ones who are fans of the show, then they will love this movie. I liked the return of the classic 2D animation and the songs are quite catchy. My favorite pony was Pinky Pie. The movie isn't going to be Pixar deep, but it does have a nice message about teamwork and acceptance. I am no Brony - male My Little Pony fanatics - but I did have a fun time watching this movie about ponies trying to save the day.
Grade: B.
