Review of My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2010) by Dagmar D — 11 Dec 2009
After being a so-so fan of Herzog for many years, watching most of his works at my convenience but never fully being.
Enveloped in his art, I was slightly surprised when I found.
Myself still sitting in my TIFF theater seat long after the credits stopped rolling.
After One and a half hours of pure Herzogian bliss I can.
Finally say I got it. Finally I was able to look through the eyes of this Bavarian wonder. At least I think I was.
You never really know with this guy. but I liked it. A lot.
I don't want to go into details about the story, or even it's characters. That you must find out your-selves.
To me this is the first Herzog feature film in a long time that really works. And I believe He knows it to.
A quirky, stunning visual with classic tones of madness.
A masterpiece.
IFC is screening it in NY.
Hopefully it'll get at least a few screens here on the left coast as well.
