Review of Mysterious Island (2011) by Kheng H — 15 Jul 2011
If thereâ(TM)s any horror movies that can make me yawn and laugh at the same time, it is this one. Utterly boring and uninteresting with a plot so illogical and mindless, youâ(TM)ll be better off watching paint dry.
The story is about a group of ala survivor participants competing in a supposedly haunted island to win a million dollars in prize (heard that, done that) when strange things started to happen (think totally laughable cheap effects, unrealistic happenings and loud sounds that donâ(TM)t mean anything other then trying to scare you but utterly fail to do so).
Soon, one by one the participant is killed by you guess who or what (in fact, who cares). The ending is so predictable that Iâ(TM)ve guessed it from the first 20 minutes of the movie and not to mention the totally illogical explanation that did nothing to explain the happenings in the story.
Acting wise is only passable with a mix cast of actors from Japan, China and Hong Kong but who can blame them with such a lame direction. My verdict, do not ever attempt to watch this movie unless you want to laugh and die of boredom at the same time.
