Review of Next Gen (2018) by Marshall H — 24 Jan 2019
Only redeemable quality is the animation is very well done. Story structure follows a very basic formula of hurt little girl, has disappointment or outside force damaging her ego, learns life lesson from inanimate object.
The story is just so poorly done that a girl of age 10, has very complex issues and also the strength of an adult man. I can understand suspension of disbelief, but this just went over the top. It has moments of weakness for characters that are nonsensical compared to a young child with unbelievable strength.
The main character is not relatable and killed it for the story. It is like a Mary Sue type of character with her only flaw being emotion damage because her father left. The robot has more real human emotion than this Mary Sue of a character.
Would not recommend.
