This movie manages to be three things at once: An exhilirating action movie, an intriguing political thriller, and a moving and poignant love story. It does full justice to all three with a running time of less than 100 minutes.
The story is tightly focused and has a certain inevitability about it. It's one of those great movies that taps into the archetypes of the mythic structure to tell a powerful and deeply satisfying story.
It has the sorts of villains we love to hate, and in terms of sheer badassery, it's unsurpassed.
