Jordan Peele's endless train of derivative failed concepts finally derails in this tonally off-putting supposed "science fiction," trope calculator that couldn't replicate "The day the Earth Stood Still," or "War of the Worlds" if it tried. Peele is no fool, he may be a bit foolish in believing that all his ideas are worth more than the sum of their parts however, and the case of "Nope," the title itself being more of reference to "something, something pop culture," isn't an organic word nor a particularly interesting way of hooking your audience. If anything, "Nope," represents everything else that rightfully killed off M. Night Shyamalan's career, but have inexplicably allowed Peele to make more than a handful of middling to terrible movies that offer nothing new or interesting for people to watch or be questionably terrified about.

I've never even heard anyone talk about a Peele movie, I just hear about how many critics seem to think he's some sort of unsung genius. Oh, like "Kubrick," perhaps? Perhaps they meant John Carpenter, or maybe Hitchcock? David Lynch maybe? A genius he must truly be to trick many millions of people into buying tickets or settling around the streaming box on a friday or saturday night to watch the most generic garbage imaginable and then pretend its actually scary. You could make a movie about handpuppets scarier than anything Peele has put out, so perhaps they're thoughtful, introspective and intellectual dissections of our society today and the problems we face every year as human beings? Fat chance when you're literally ripping off "Invasion of the body snatchers," and ironically become the thing you were paying "homage" too to begin with. He's right, we should feel truly humbled by his brilliance, we are the idiots that keep buying into his mediocre mainstream horror ideas that couldn't scare Stephen King on a cocaine binge at three o'clock in the morning after 72 hours without sleep.

In short, the twist in this film is so stupid that it physically hurts to think about. Stop encouraging this man to make movies.
