Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Michael M — 15 Mar 2011
It doesn't get any better than this. Groundbreaking, politically exigent, impeccably written, acted... As I watched Brando stumbling into the warehouse through his swollen eyes in the film's closing moments, I almost had to cheer him on like I was a 10-year old kid watching his father hit with two strikes in the bottom of the ninth in a world series game.
This is one of those movies that leaves you numb for a long time after the curtain has closed. Brilliant...
