Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Tim M — 03 Aug 2010
Redemption and corruption are just two of the themes explored in this Academy Award-winning classic. On The Waterfront isn't just a mob movie, it's a movie about loyalty, love and doing what's right.
Marlon Brando's performance lives up to the hype that I've been told, and this is surely one of his finest performances. Kazan's vision is brought to life with a wonderful screenplay, perfect casting, a nice setting and a great score to match.
This is not just one of the films of the 50's, it is one of the best films of all-time. A classic.
