Review of Once (2007) by Kevin M — 28 Feb 2012
I loved it. The connection that these two characters has does truly only happen once, and unfortunately for them, it could have blossomed into something, but it was at the wrong time in both of their lives.
It makes you ask "what if?" What if they had met earlier in their lives? What if he wasn't stuck on his ex and she wasn't stuck with her husband? Also, what I loved about this movie was that this couple didn't need a passionate kissing scene or big long speeches to each other.
Everything they wanted to say they said in their music. Which was beautifully written by the way. This is another one I suggest turning on the subtitles for. Both of their accents can get a tad thick, for one, and secondly, I liked reading the lyrics while listening to the music, it made it more powerful.
This movie also focuses on how people say they want to follow their dreams, but something is always holding them back. The Guy finally has an opportunity and he finally takes it. A truly inspirational movie, about following your dreams and love.
