Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Jesse C — 21 Jun 2018
Honestly, I don't really think the first one needed a sequel, it seemed like a fun but self-contained film. But here we are, Pacific Rim: Uprising.
Well it didn't really add anything new to the first film, didn't really care for most of the new characters, and what happened to Raleigh and Herc?
That being said, the doctors come back (I did a 180 about which one of them I liked), Mako was back (though she's not in it a lot), Jake and Amara (Played by John Boyega and Cailee Spaeny) were pretty good. The action and effects were good and fun to watch. I have to agree with a friend of mine, most (with like a couple of brief exceptions) of the Kaiju scenes were at night in the first film, whereas most of them happen in daytime in this one. Probably could have used more nighttime scenes. Overall, it was a lot of fun, but first one was better.
